In their own words: what it's like to train with AM Fitness.
I started my fitness journey in 2024, where, unlike most people whose main aim is to improve their appearance or reshape their body, my intention was to improve my labs and build the fitness required to live and move comfortably.
On that fateful Tuesday evening when I had my first session with Anderson, we both realized how much work lay ahead of us. Undaunted, Anderson adapted every exercise and showed such patience, genuine care and professionalism.
He kept each workout challenging, employed careful progression to ensure my success, prioritized form to prevent injury and did his best to keep my inner overachiever in check.
His encouragement, coaching and support not only helped me achieve my health and fitness goals, but gave me the confidence I needed to show up as my best self and build the habits that support my new lifestyle centering my health and my physical and mental fitness.
Training with Anderson has been a rewarding experience! What I appreciate most is his ability to recognise my strengths and know exactly how far to push me, while also knowing when I need a little grace.
He challenges me to do things I never thought I was capable of, but somehow makes even the difficult things feel achievable rather than overwhelming.
I especially enjoy the comfort of our one-on-one sessions. Anderson is attentive to every detail, constantly checking my form, making corrections, and knowing when I can give a little more.
He knows when to push, when to encourage, and when to give grace. That balance makes all the difference!
Even when the sessions are intense, it feels more like training with a friend than a drill master. I actually look forward to our sessions even though he could get cuss from time to time lol
I’ve always had an inconsistent relationship with certain aspects of my fitness. I’m a basketballer and a sports person at heart, and I’ve always preferred working outside the gym, with spells of being heavily involved, but never lasting more than a year inside the gym at any point.
As I’ve aged, I’ve come to respect the importance of maintaining as much muscle mass as possible. One thing that made it easy to commit to the gym for the last three years was Anderson. I felt challenged, but never disrespected or belittled, and that’s what I needed.
My journey in the gym was never to impress anyone, so I don’t need anyone to push me. I push myself, and as I gain more strength, I continue to push within reason, considering my age and abilities.
I believe Anderson is a very good person to get people like me back out there and moving again, without any of the demeaning tactics others may use to motivate, especially if you’re a self-motivated and logical person.
One of the best, if not the best, I’ve ever trained with. He’s more than a trainer. He becomes a friend.
